Commercial & Industrial Roofs Detailed Waterproofing Cold-Applied Systems Survey-Led Repairs & Refurbishment

Liquid Applied Roofing Systems

For detailed and complex industrial roofing, corrosion treatment and roof refurbishment works, Modern Roofing has worked successfully with proven liquid applied systems including Sika Sikalastic and Decothane.

Liquid roofing systems create a labour-saving method of waterproofing around challenging roof penetrations, such as rooflights and M&E penetrations. Our supplier’s liquid applied membranes are high performance polyurethane and can be used on both flat and pitched roofs.

Liquid applied membranes are cold applied, eliminating the risk of fire in an occupied building during installation, and cure to form a seamless waterproof membrane.

Sika Sikalastic and Decothane Systems

Modern Roofing carries out liquid applied roofing using proven systems including Sika Sikalastic and Decothane. These systems are suited to complex detailing, difficult roof areas, refurbishment projects and areas where a seamless waterproof membrane is required.

Sika Sikalastic

Sika Sikalastic systems provide a cold-applied liquid membrane suitable for refurbishment, complex detailing and seamless waterproofing to both flat and pitched roofs.

Decothane

Decothane liquid systems provide a robust polyurethane waterproofing solution that is particularly useful where challenging penetrations, awkward detailing or refurbishment constraints make liquid application the practical choice.

The Advantages of a Liquid System

Cold applied installation

Liquid applied membranes are cold applied, reducing fire risk in occupied buildings and sensitive working environments.

Ideal for complex detailing

They are particularly useful around rooflights, M&E penetrations, upstands, outlets and other difficult roof details.

Seamless waterproof membrane

Once cured, liquid systems form a seamless waterproof finish without vulnerable lap joints.

Suitable for flat and pitched roofs

High performance polyurethane liquid membranes can be used on both flat and pitched roof areas.

Labour-saving application

Liquid roofing can be an efficient method of waterproofing roof areas where sheet materials would be slower or more difficult to install.

Useful for refurbishment and corrosion treatment

Liquid systems are often well suited to refurbishment schemes, difficult access areas and projects involving corrosion treatment.

Liquid Applied Roofing for Industrial and Commercial Buildings

Modern Roofing (Scotland) Ltd provides liquid applied roofing as part of our wider industrial roofing service across Scotland, including refurbishment, detailing and waterproofing to challenging roof areas.

Glasgow Science Centre Liquid Waterproofing Project

Modern Roofing carried out an area of liquid applied waterproofing inside the Glasgow Science Centre, beneath a children’s water play area with a walkway above. It was a detailed internal waterproofing project where liquid application was the practical solution because the area required a seamless membrane around awkward details.

Interesting Internal Waterproofing Work

The project shows why liquid applied systems are useful beyond normal roof areas. In this case, the waterproofing was installed inside the building, below a water activity area, where a neat, seamless and reliable membrane was required.

This type of work suits liquid systems because they can be applied around tight details, corners, upstands, penetrations and restricted areas where sheet materials would be more difficult to form correctly.

Police Station Tight Access Liquid Roofing Project

These photographs show liquid applied roofing being installed in a very tight space within a police station environment. This type of project demonstrates one of the key strengths of liquid systems: they can be applied effectively in restricted areas where sheet materials, larger tools or more traditional roofing methods would be difficult to use.

Liquid roofing is particularly useful where access is awkward, detailing is complex and a seamless waterproof finish is required around penetrations, upstands and confined spaces.

Liquid Applied Roofing FAQs

What is liquid applied roofing used for?

Liquid applied roofing is used for waterproofing flat and pitched roofs, refurbishment projects, corrosion treatment and complex detailing around penetrations and awkward roof features.

Why choose a liquid system instead of sheet materials?

Liquid systems can be quicker and more practical around difficult details such as rooflights, M&E penetrations, outlets and irregular roof shapes, while also creating a seamless finish.

Are liquid applied membranes safe for occupied buildings?

Yes. One of the main advantages is that they are cold applied, which helps eliminate the fire risk associated with hot works during installation.

Does Modern Roofing provide liquid roofing across Scotland?

Yes. Modern Roofing (Scotland) Ltd provides liquid applied roofing, refurbishment and waterproofing works across Scotland for industrial and commercial properties.
