Modern Roofing was instructed to investigate various leaks at Bathgate Nursery in West Lothian. Because the building was a live nursery with children on site, the works had to be assessed, planned and carried out with careful control around access, safety and disruption.
Roof appraisal and core sample
Before recommending a system, Modern Roofing carried out a roof appraisal and core sample. This allowed the existing roof build-up and insulation condition to be checked properly instead of guessing from the surface.
The core sample showed that the insulation was only damp in isolated areas. That was important because it meant the whole roof did not need unnecessary full strip-out. The damp insulation areas could be removed and replaced before the overlay system was installed.
Recommended roofing solution
Modern Roofing recommended an overlay system. The isolated damp insulation areas were replaced first, then a Sika fleeceback membrane was installed across the entire roof area.
